I live in a small 700 sqft 1 bedroom, I already have a 60 inch flatscreen in my living area. I was thinking of getting a 40 inch 4k TV for my bedroom since they are on sale now ($299) but I would also need to get a wall mount (due to space constraints) for $25 and also a Chromecast Ultra ($50 - also on sale now) for a total just a hair below $400 for the package.

Having a hard time justifying if it's worth having a TV just a few steps away from my main 60 incher. The only reason is that I can lie in bed and watch TV which I don't really know if I do too often since I read my kindle sometimes. Also, it would be nice to watch other content - Youtube, News etc. when I am working on my computer (which has 2 27-inch screens but I work in IT and use both screens).

On one hand I feel it's a frivolous purchase, on the other hand I feel the prices are good and it's convenient to have a screen in the bedroom. What's your take on having a 2nd TV in a 1bd apt?

I've never been a fan of a tv in the bedroom...I think it interferes with sleep patterns. I do two things in the bedroom...one is sleep and the other thing is usually closely followed by sleep

So yeah, to me it would be a complete waste of money, for the tv plus all the accessories that have ongoing cost, but that's just me.

Depends on how pampered you want to be. Two TV's this close might be considered a bit much.........

I've had a tv in my BR for as long as I could afford it. I hate silence, so when I go to bed, I turn on the tv, if only for the sound. I fall right to sleep. Sometimes I'm able to watch a bit before I nod off. On weekends, I can have coffee in bed while I watch a morning program. And when I'm sick, I can watch tv while in bed. However, I don't hang out in my BR. I've always been a good sleeper, and I think that's partly why. The tv doesn't interfere with my sleep at all. Quite the contrary. (I also work well in a noisy environment.)

As for the expense, if it were me, I'd get a CHEAP tv for the BR. I would not get a 4k. For one thing, 4k tvs use a LOT of data when streaming. I would save 4k for the main tv of the house. You can get an inexpensive 720p or 1080p tv for $150 or less (tvs go on sale around Superbowl time, as well as right now up to Christmas). If you buy last year's model, you can get a great deal.

If you get a 4k, though (which I would NEVER get for the BR), it'll probably be a smart tv, so you won't need a Chromecast.

If I want a larger tv in my BR, I would probably upgrade my LR tv, and move the current LR tv to my bedroom.

I also cut cable, so I don't have that expense. I bought the Roku devices, and subscribed to a couple of streaming services, instead. And had to spend money on tv antennas. So I pay about $20/mo. instead of cable, now. Yay! Love it.
