The windows in our bedroom are rather small. The opening measuring about 19.5 W X 12 3/4 H. This makes it hard to find window air conditioners as everything I can find requires a minimum 23 in W opening. Any ideas on where I could find one that would fit? If not, I will get one of those portable ones that have an exhaust hose going out the window. Thanks

The ones with the exhaust hose work well. If that is the only option, you will be happy with it.

Amazon and Walmart seem to have small ones listed. Search on this:

Frigidaire FRA052XT7 5000-BTU Mini Window Air Conditioner

I have the same problem with my third floor windows, very small, I have already had one of the vent out the window ones exploded and catch fire. So I am not so keen on those anymore.
So far I have not found one small enough.

Uh, are you aware that windows that small in a bedroom are a code violation. That's a recognized hazard as there is no means of escape should the house catch fire.

There is no national law governing bedroom window size, so what may be true in one state may not be true for another state. Also, it wouldn't shock me if, even in those jurisdictions that have required that bedroom windows be larger than those in the OP, homes built before a certain year were grandfathered.
