I am thinking of using my pressure washer to clean out my clogged gutters, I recall reading somewhere that in NC they don’t install a drip edge but instead hang the first layer of shingles like an inch or two over the gutter. Can’t speak about the drip edge but from what I can see from my window the shingles do hang over the gutters by an inch or so, if f I use the pressure washer it is more then likely that it will lift those shingles up.

Should I be concerned about crud/decaying leafs getting blown under the shingles causing damage to the roof long term? How about damage to the shingles themselves since they would be flapping around?

It is VERY easy to damage asphalt shingles with a pressure washer.

Not thinking this is a good idea... there are better, less messy, less violent ways to clean out clogged gutters.

Use your hands or a blower- not a pressure washer!

If you absolutely must use water- just use a hose (house pressure); still not advocating the use of water- but if you must...

Just because you own a PW is no reason actually use it.

The FLOW from a garden hose is all the pressure you should need and it will be much easier to control.
Just get up where you can see up close and work carefully 4-6 feet at a stretch.

If you have any real bulk in there then clean that out first too.

Yes I returned mine =)

Be careful. As an ER RN I see lots of falls and they are not easy fixes.

In my bedside RN days, I worked on a brain injury unit. I haven't gone up on a ladder since then!

I took a leaf blower onto the roof to clean mine the last 2 years. haha. It has more pitch than your double wide mobile homes but it's not a really steep pitch... typical ranch house pitch.

Get some pvc pipes and a make a u shape at one end to hook it to gutters then another long pvc pipe so you can be on ground level and use leaf blower to blow air up the pipe into gutters. good for a two story house. you can walk around the house safely without ladder. feed a water hose through pipe to flush out drains after blowing gutters out
