Would it be big, small, grass, no grass, deck or patio etc.? Would you have a gazebo or an outdoor kitchen or pool? Big garden or a few raised beds or no plants at all?

My dream back yard would basically be a large partially covered patio with a privacy fence and room for a small fire pit. I would have a grill, comfy seating, overhead fan in the covered part and lots of potted cacti, flowers and trees. I would have pretty lights strung above and a dining table big enough to seat 8 . Also a long narrow area along the side of the house to play cornhole or horseshoes.

This is kind of nice - no landscaping worries, but peaceful.

That's basically my dream backyard, that's a house design we're looking into but the issue is they may be sold out of the community within a year and our time table is two years, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it happen and just sit on the empty house for a bit or if it probably won't happen.

But something like that, must have a pool, hot tub, fire pit, outdoor seating areas, some covered patios, and minimal to zero landscaping / xeriscaping kind of situation.

1800 sqf tiled, four seating areas - living room/TV/oversized spa under covered pergola, dining for 8+ under roof, bar open to the night sky, tiny vegetable/herb garden and a seating area. The open strip planted with mature trees, big bolders, daylilies, daffodils and wisteria ready to explode and cover the whole fence to 8-10 feet (city allows 6 ft privacy fence but also chain/post added to the posts as trellis). Upkeep - 30 bags of mulch, vegetable plants, occasional pressure washing.

It would be about 5 acres. Lots of trees, beautiful lawn. Huge deck partially covered. Built in bbq/outdoor oven.

Which dreams?

My current dram woudl be no back yard, no mowing, no trees to cut up when they die, no brush to trim, no edging, no planting, no cleaning. . . .

Tomorrow will likely be different though.
