I own an acre now that's partially cleared in the middle and has trees around it for a buffer, but as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier. I'd be thrilled to own a couple square miles of nice land. Barring that, 20 to 40 acres to me seems ideal. With grass and trees and a pond and all fenced. And someone to take care of it all.

Well, you said if cost wasn't an issue.
Thank goodness we can all dream. Sounds like a winner to me!

Does zoning currently exist that requires minimum lot sizes? If not, why not?

An acre is fine as long as I don't have to cut/weed/trim/mulch it!

I would want enough acreage that I would never have to see or hear any neighbors, and never worry about anything I can see from my place being developed.

1 acre would be my first choice, but depending on how lots are laid out/landscaped/size of the hosue, I might take 1/2 an acre.

I've seen 1 acre lots laid out in such a way that it still seems the neighbors are on top of you, especially if very large houses are plopped down on them. And I've seen 1/2 acre lots where they have lots of trees and the houses aren't quite so large, so it seems larger and more private.

When I was younger I would have loved to have an acre or two. Now that I'm older? Our yard gets bigger every year. Our lot is 50x125 and the only grass we have is on the small parkway in front. That's a lot of weeding.

We have a third. It's a little too much. I hate houses that are on top of one another, but I prefer a half to a quarter at this point in life,

I have 0.66 acres but wish I had 10 acres. Someday maybe.

It's zoned commercial 1 and 2 they are seeking a mixed use variance and have stated over and over that people want small lots. All residential in our town is one home / acre, no sewage system in our town, for septic state requires 1 acre.
