Is adding a GFCI outlet something a handyman can do or is it a job best left to an electrician?

I would like to have the GFCI outlet and the new garage door opener installed at the same time, but when I have contacted electricians, they reply that they don't install garage door openers. Garage door installers don't add outlets. The reason why I would like to have the GFCI and new garage door opener installed at the same time is because it took many many many tries for the garage door to finally close the last time I used it (months ago) and who knows, next time it might not close at all, after installing a GFCI.

Can a handyman handle all these tasks?

The task is of negligible difficulty. You pull the light fixture out of its box and screw in the GFCI outlet. Takes 15 minute even if not very competent.
Worse case you replace the electric box.

YOu can also just have the GDO replaced using the existing sockets and then replace the sockets with the GFCI.

This is simple stuff. The only thing requiring any skill is setting up the GDO.

I would not trust a "handyman" to install my new GDO. But I would get the handyman with good references to install the GDO outlet. And then, call a O.H.G D. company to install me a new GDO. And stop worrying about it all. Life is too short.
