As I'm getting to know my recently purchased home, I'm discovering all kinds of new things. For example, I just found this panel in my linen closet right behind the shower that I can remove and it reveals some plumbing.
My question is, based on the picture i have attached, is the circular knob on the tubing in the middle of the picture intended to control the flow of water, or maybe even cold or hot water? When I've turned it either clockwise or counter-clockwise, I haven't noticed any difference one way or another, but then again, I haven't really cranked it too many rotations, because I'm afraid of screwing up something (I do know to turm off the main water valve first, at least). I do know that the skinny tube to the left is the cold water and the skinny tube to the right is the hot- can feel that one getting really hot, so the hot water is getting into that tube...it's just not getting into the main lower spigot below or to the shower head at top.
The larger issue is, I've recently replaced the cartridge for my Pfister shower with a brand new one since I'm getting lukewarm but not piping hot water. Even after adjusting the cartridge mixer to allow max hot water, it's still not coming through hot- just lukewarm. So, I'm wondering if there's something I need to adjust elsewhere to get this to work for me.
I see a "shark-bite" TEE fitting with the outlet capped off.
As noted the pipes to the LEFT and RIGHT are the Hot & Cold pipes.
Indeed so. You'll want to plan a replacement of this to a Delta or Moen.
btw (eta)... how much $$ did the Pfister parts kit cost you?
Thanks, Mr. Rational.
Fortunately, it didn't cost me anything...I did some research online and found out that Pfister has lifetime warranty on their parts- so I was able to get a replacement one sent to me for free. But if a brand new cartridge isn't working, then I don't know what to make of it. I can see the cartridge valves open to allow hot water flow when I turn the knob, so I'm pretty sure the cartridge isn't the problem. It's weird. I'd replace it all but I'd rather of course save money if I can make this work. Buying a whole new kit isn't the most expensive thing in the world, but it's not entirely cheap, either.
