I want to replace the 3 exterior light fixtures on my house. Lantern style on each side of the garage door. The switch is inside of the front door hallway along with a switch that controls the hallway light. Can't seem to find the breaker for it. There are breaker finders on the market, but they need to be plugged into a receptacle. That won't do me any good for a light switch. Any ideas?

Turn the breakers off one at a time until the light goes out. Doing this with 2 people saves a lot of walking.

You buy one of those keyless adapters ...it screws into a light socket and converts it to a receptacle..now you can plug the tester in

Or plug a radio in it, turn it up loud and start turning off breakers until the music stops.

If the switch is off the power is off at the fixture- good enough for me.

Of course, flipping the breaker is safer.

Never assume some amateur did not put the switch on the neutral leg ..it has been done

This is the sole reason I got married.

That's what makes it fun- a non-contact detector will verify. But for something so easy I'll take that chance- besides, a little tickle to the elbow occasionally makes me aware I'm still alive ; and my reflexes are still good!

Sure it will!

... and if you're worried about functionality without a ground pin, Klein Tools makes a 2-prong tester: https://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-E.../dp/B003LHJSY8

(FYI: I'm guessing that means it's on the same breaker as your hallway lights, too? Unless... was there a separate sub-panel installed for just the garage?
