My son who's now 11 was so well trained at 2, that he would admonish his dad after using the toilet and says "Always down, Daddy. Always down!" Didn't do squat for his dad, but his future wife WILL thank me!

DOWN. Not only does it look better, but it prevents the animals from getting into the water! (TMI here-I also only flush after I put the lid down. I read somewhere that a lot of bacteria and what have you gets thrown about when you flush with the lid open...After thinking about my toothbrush being in the same room, I ALWAYS flush with the lid down, lol!)

Hey, this dilemma's been solved already! It's worth investing in it: Magic John Toilet Seat Lifter (http://www.magicjohn.com/mj.htm - broken link) For some reason, it doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere, though...

We have three people and four bathrooms. Why should I have to lift a germ ridden lid in my bathroom?

Down ... and although no one asked, the toilet paper needs to come off the roll over the top.
