Interesting. I've never had a significant issue with any sort of door knob or lever.
I did live in a house that was about 20 years old and the door knobs were too, and occasionally I'd have to use the little hole and a skinny something or other to open a door if it got slammed. By "occasionally" I mean twice in five years. But over time we replaced all the door knobs anyway, with new doorknobs, and never had that issue again.
Choices - that's one area the United States really excels at. I can have any sort of doorknob I want, basically, at every price point.
Ok, thanks all. I unlocked it. Time for release all the stress
Replace the bathroom door handles with ones that are made specifically for bathrooms. They have a hole in the middle you put something in and pop the lock. Especially important for kids and elderly who may fall in the bathroom. Used to be people used the "key" that was on a can of spam that opened the can. They saved the key and put it above the door on the frame for emergencies. I don't' know if they make those cans anymore? Only thing a can of spam was good for..disgusting product.
That appears to be the type where you put a flat blade in the hole and turn. Probably has a small button on inside escutchen rather than a button on the knob itself. Doesn't use the now-common question-mark shaped key, but rather an L-shaped piece of sheet metal. Usually stored on the top of the molding above the door.
