Thought I would update this one...

Laundry room is doing great and I recently completed the second of three aspects to the overall area... the third should be here in about a month - a new fire-rated door into the garage.

This is adjacent to the laundry room pocket door...

It’s made out of poplar, solid oak, butcher block, and bead board. We really like it!

We have now removed 3 doors from this area. Two totally removed for the bench conversion and one converted into a pocket door. The only swinging door left in that tight area is the actual garage door. No more doors banging into each other....

Hall trees are great for kids-
They make good pseudo mud rooms also.

Nice job!

Thanks K'! it took me about a month to do on an on/off schedule. I was able to use most of the old shelving that was in there (poplar). The most expensive piece was the shelf at the top - it is two pieces of 1 inch red oak connected with a few biscuits to keep them straight. I went with the oak because the span is 65 inches and didn't want sagging. The bench itself is a standard birch countertop from HD cut down to size. The rest is the poplar and bead board.
