We had a couple of small wooden blocks just laying around and we set them under the microwave's feet. One block raised it an inch and a half, two blocks raised it three inches and makes it much easier to open the door while there's a plate in front of it. These were just chunks of a 2" x 4" that were cut off during construction, if you don't have any of your own and know anyone building houses, they can probably give you some since they're typically thrown away on a construction site.

My favorite hack occurred when we built this house. We put an electric outlet under all the bathroom vanities. Goodbye to hair dryers, electric toothbrushes, etc cluttering up the countertops.

It depends on the fat. Some we save for cooking, mostly bacon grease. Other stuff just goes into a coffee can or the like and into the trash can on garbage day. Or, if it isn't a ton of fat in the first place, I'll drizzle some on the dogs kibble and soak the rest with a paper towel.
