We have a 6 burner gas stove with a white subway tile backsplash. The grout is also white and I don't think it was sealed when it was installed.

We have a powerful vent hood with white cabinets on either side.

The sides of those white cabinets and the grout in the backsplash have discolored somewhat from grease, I think. They have a faint yellow tinge.

Any tips or recommendations for cleaning? So far I've tried Comet and a kitchen degreaser with no success.

Oil based materials are dissolved by oil based solvents. Baked on oil splatters should be the same.

Or, if all else fails, acetone.

I would be worried it would strip the painted finish.

OK, "acetone" was tongue in cheek. But it will get off the baked-on grease - along with everything else.

These white on white kitchens never seem very practical to me. IMHO heavily used areas would always end up looking...well...heavily used. Not to mention I'd get a bit OCD chasing every spot and splatter.

Why do you think the standard material for this location in commercial kitchens is brushed stainless steel? That's what I'd use if I did a lot of frying and sauteeing.

I used some Goop hand cleaner and that worked miracles on the cabinets!

No luck with the grout though.

A degreaser should have worked, try letting it soak a bit so the product does the work for you. You can spray it onto a flat paper towel, and apply the paper towel to the greasy areas and let it sit awhile.
