OK it's too late, but I found out that a standard 20" box fan no longer fits in our window. It's something I had never thought about. Not that it would have stopped us from getting them.

We got MI brand windows. Just wondering if we'd spent the extra bucks for Anderson or Pella would the 20" box fan have fit?

It’s all dependent on the size of the window!

Is this the residential version of "Does a 4 by 8 sheet of plywood fit in your truck?"

Honestly, I find a disconnect in combining the topic of rather expensive window replacements with whether or not a $15 fan fits in them.

Insert replacement window are going to be smaller than the existing windows. I bet you can find a fan that fits.

So if I'd sprung for Anderson windows they would have smaller openings, too. Good to know.

20" is the standard size for a box fan. I cannot find anything smaller. Sure, clink on a Target link that says "16 inch box fan" but there's no There there.

There are many in-window fans with adjustable wings. Just not $15 box fans.

I mean, no diss, but the vibe here is a complaint that the cup holders in your Escalade are too big to hold a buggy whip.

Get a couple long deck screws and fender washers, run the screws through the grill of the fan into the sash of the window.

Or, just set the fan on a table in front of the window.

Or, just set the fan on the window sill...

Nah, why would you want to fool with that fiddly tight-tolerance stuff? I'm thinking it's time for an axe and a flat bar. Or a chainsaw...

LOL, OK thanks. I'll have to settle for one of those double 8-inch in-window fans.
