These are the photos he took. He said inside dryer was hazard for sure. Definitely happy to have that done and worth it but I guess just wanted to check if I was ripped up and if I should call back to try and negotiate more.

Is that second picture the lint filter in the dryer? It should be cleaned after EACH use.

How long is the hose from the dryer to the wall? I am religious about cleaning the filter after every use, but many years ago I had a much too long hose from dryer to wall and it collected a dangerous amount of lint. Use the absolute shortest length you can.

Yes that is in the dryer. I do clean it every time. I had a filter in there but I guess lint builtup underneath too.

Not sure I can do anything about the length of the hose. It’s connected from my basement to outside patio. Assuming it needed to snake around to reach? Service person seemed more concerned with the lint built up in my dryer. Said that was dangerous so thank god I got it cleaned.

Looks like lint in the back side of the dryer?

That appears to be the hollow spot where the lint tray goes.

While $500, does seem a little high, its not outrageous. Anyone that thinks replacing 30' of dryer ducting is a $20 thing, is easy, obviously has never replaced a dryer vent. Many times they are in attics buried below insulation, and there's also the matter of the 8' of duct inside the wall cavity. Other times they are in the crawlspace and also not so much fun getting to it.
Cleaning the lint trap does not keep the duct lint free.
Having seen the results of dryer fires a few times, Im a firm believer in keeping the dryer vent cleaned out.

Newbie question - Is it safe to do so with the gas connection on a gas dryer? Thx.
