That's TSP - Tri Sodium Phosphate.... often comes as a powder you sprinkle on and leave it to sit.... let the rain wash it down the roof. Follow up a couple weeks later and hit any spots that are still dark.

It’s not true TSP- it’s a substitute.
Actually TSP is not readily available to the general public because of the damage it can do to storm water/creek basins.
I have this on my roof. Only on the north-facing side; the sunlight takes care of the other side. It's just mold, not a big deal. You can DIY spray some mold killer- Home Depot sells one that attaches to the hose and mixes the chemical in while spraying. In my experience, the DIY chemicals inhibit the growth but don't do a great job of eliminating the staining.
I called a roof wash company and they wanted $1200 to clean it, using a form of power washing (but not the same as regular power washing). My roof is at least 25 years old so it's not worth cleaning it, it's going to need shingling eventually anyway.

TSP is right at my Home Depot, today. Easily available.
TSP substitute is a great cleaner, and definitely does not need rinsing.
I found an attachment to the hose which will siphon a liquid (of choice) and mix with water along with a nozzle that creates a strong stream (in order to reach the rooftop). I was planning on bleaching my roof (and vinyl siding). But, it will be diluted and maybe only left on overnight (and doused with water again the next day). I had not thought of using TSP.
Unfortunately a roofing contractor must have power washed my roof when my house was about 10 years old. It took at least 5 years off the life of the roof. Now, I had retired roofers out who told me not to let anyone else on the roof (I have a good roof surface that does not power wash). However, they said not to do anything to it (keep people off the roof) and then just replace it in 5 years (about 2 years now). A little bit of moss is beginning to grow and I have a firm belief that bleach will kill it (even diluted bleach).
