Serial: HRX3769387. Is anyone else having issues with theirs? We spent 3k on this fridge and it's been nothing but a nightmare!!! We bought the whole kitchen set as we redid our kitchen. Within the first year it broke down numerous times causing me to throw hundreds of dollars of food out and miss work waiting on all those service calls. Now, I'm having issues with the big water filter that's inside the fridge. I'm a 6 month subscription and I installed it two weeks ago. It kept popping out. I thought it was something wrong with the filter itself, so I contacted KA and they resent a new one. I installed it this morning, run some errands and guess what?? I come home to find that it SHOT OUT like a missile and broke glass condiment containers on my top shelf on my door!!! Could you imagine if I had the door open when that happened?? So, I call KA to complain about this and all I can do because, of course now it's out of warranty, is get a bypass piece so I don't have to use the filter-which is on major backorder. I mean just FML.

See if your state has "lemon laws" that might apply. If you had repeated problems during warranty, sometimes these can be triggered, IIRC.

None of them are made like they used to be, part of that being the addition of electronics, ice makers, filters, and now even video screens. We had problems with noise on our Samsung, after the warranty was up, and eventually became part of a class action lawsuit. We then got a Whirlpool, which has been fine on the refrigerator and filter changes, but about once every month or two there will be no ice. I have to remove the ice maker storage box and find where a piece of ice has jammed the "full shutoff" device. Other times I hear ice falling but none goes into my glass. I open the fridge door and the chute is full, because at the bottom the door is jammed with 2-3 cubes stuck together that won't fit through.

We recently discovered that Whirpool owns KitchenAid, and in fact they have a lawsuit going too.

I get no results when I search for that serial number. But I have had my Kitchenaid fridge for about 3 years now and I absolutely love it. We've had absolutely no issues with it. Part of the reason we went with Kitchenaid was because we had heard nothing but good things.

I'm sorry you're having issues, but I think that's more an exception than the rule for those fridges.

This is exactly why we went with KA instead in LG or Samsung! UGH so now we'll just use it without the filter and hopefully won't grow another eyeball

I would install the bypass then. The filter does get clogged over time and will reduce the flow of water.
