I have a Filtex model NTSP 700A central vacuum cleaner. It's a 30 year old unit, but still functions reasonably well. About 16-18 years ago, one of the motors failed, I obtained 2 new ones, and replaced the old/damaged ones by myself.

It's my understanding that these motors have a useful life of about 1000-1200 hours, and I'm sure that I'm easily around that number, now, so I bought 2 new motors. I'm both embarrassed as well as frustrated, because I went to work on the unit this past weekend, and I wasn't able to disassemble it to the point where I could replace the motors.

The motors are located in the lower portion of the canister, and I thought that after I removed some hardware and disconnected a few wires, the "plate" that retains the motors would then be clear to pull out, exposing the motors. After all, I did this before.....but I simply cannot remember how I did it.

However, I'm stumped. Filtex, sadly, is no longer in business, having been bought out, about 15 years ago. I'm trying to find an old service manual for this unit. Anyone have any ideas as to where I might be able to find the information, like a service manual or part diagram, that I need?

I haven't searched for it, but you can often find videos on YouTube to do this kind of operation.

Good luck!

Tried that, but as is usual for me, there are videos of a number of central vac units, but not the one I have.....
