Might consider "stamped" concrete. It can hide cracks (which, it will) and you can choose colors and textures too.

I got what is probably a very reasonable bid for concrete ($5k) and decided I'm going to wait until the city makes me do it. In a little over two years I think I've seen maybe a half dozen people other than me on that sidewalk.

Municipalities generally move at a "glacial pace"- Your tax dollars at work... ah, I mean "waste".
By the time they get around to "making" you fix it- the cost will probably be $10k!

And I would question if you are liable if someone should fall on the sidewalk because you say it's in bad shape. The potential for a lawsuit may influence your decision on the "when".

I've wondered about it, too. It looks like hell, but I don't think it's bad to that point yet.
