Then it most likely is finished with a water-based poly. There would be no wax- other than what you have applied.
Again, since your main objective here is to just “spruce up”, I wouldn’t go hog wild with “refinishing”. Just the stain pen to refresh the color. Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill!
I should have shared that the furniture manufacturer was Creative Ideas. It was acquired by Oakwood Interiors around 2006.
Jordan's Furniture in Massachusetts sells quality furniture. That is why I want to keep the furniture instead of getting new ones.
To give an update - I used a touch-up marker in Oak color to repair the worn spots. Attached are photos of the chair and the table after touch-up.
Although the Oak color was not a perfect match, it was the closest to the existing color. It's not easy to tell the difference if you don't look carefully. Overall I'm happy with the outcome. Thanks to all for the suggestions!
