Dishwasher soap container (detergent, fix, old, spray)

It doesn't pop open anymore.
Is there a SIMPLE , non-new-part, fix for this un-handy old lady to try?
Ya' know, like you'd just spray a stiff hinge with a little 4 in 1.

Clean it. Use almost hot water and a toothbrush and scrub around the latch mechanism. Sometimes it's just gunky.

Humm..would have thought that if it cleans even my worse pots, it would clean itself.
But I shall definitely give it a scrubbing .
