We are in the process of purchasing an 1860 farmhouse (my dream home!)...It's in great shape but I do know that I will have my work cut out for me with doing some upkeep.
Just want to chat about old homes! Do you know the history of yours?
Oooh so neat. I grew up in an old victorian. It was one of the few in the town that had support beams that were one solid piece of tree from basement to attic. I loved that house. My father totally gutted it and re-did the whole thing top to bottom. He kept all the dark woodword and fireplace fronts. There was this AMAZING all cherry mantle in the front room. I never have seen a cherry mantle since that house. The pillars had such rich ripples...You know...You just cant find the nice woodword or marble in new homes like you can in the old.
Congrats. I have an 1850 brick myself. Is yours intact or has it been remuddled. Mine was a nursing home.
Im slowly bringing it back.
It's been redone, but has the original wood floors and old touches/charm/character!
Honestly, I haven't even seen it yet except in pictures! We are relocating and my husband is already up there. I sent him to check the house out and he gave it his seal of approval, lol, which I'm ok with because I KNOW I'll love it!
How cool to know what your house was though. Would love to see pictures

Sounds beautiful Pitt! I know, you just don't find all the touches in new houses compared to old!
I have an old house. It is just an old house. Nothing special. Could have built a new one for what I have put in this. It is pretty now but, still an old house.

I bet it's still nicer than new! Plus, probably alot better built than new!

Yes, it is solid. I can not tell in the winter if the wind is blowing.
