Whenever I run my sink or dishwasher I have water coming through my wall between my kitchen and bedroom. My sink is on an outside wall but the water is leaking on an inside wall. I pulled a section of my wall where the water is leaking (paneled walls) but there are no pipes. So I am confused. My sink is not backing up. I do not have a continous leak so I don't think it is a hole in the water line. It seems to only happen when water is draining. I am wondering if there is a problem with my air pipe going out to the roof. There is no water standing under my sink or dishwasher. Any help is appreciated cause I am totally confused.
Look at the point where the dishwasher drain, about a 1" line, connects to the sink drain. Depending on how far your dishwasher is from the sink it may pass thru a wall.
You are right that if the problem was with a water line you would have a leak all the time, so it is something with the drain. Taking a look at the dishwasher connection is a good idea, but since you opened up the paneled wall, and assuming you also opened the plaster wall behind it, if there was one there, clean out the area inside the wall between the 2 x 4's and let some water run down the sink drain to see if it is visible. There could be a leak in the drain pipe in the space between the bottom of the sink cabinet and the floor.
Try filling the sink with water, add cool aid and then let it drain. If the water leak in the wall has color, then you know it's a drain leak coming from the sink. You can also try the same test with the dishwasher.
Good luck!
