Old threads are still informative.

I looked at a house to buy in the 90’s where the owner was spending winters in Florida. Oops a power outage, freezing weather, recovery of power caused the baseboard water to leak on to the wood floors, then down into the basement where water was pooling.

Electric heat in the basement would have been a hazard. Baseboard heat in the basement might have kept most of the escaped water away from those wood floors.

Well they can be. But things seem to change very fast in technology and the way people heat their houses these days.

15 years is a long time, and that poster never returned.

They can also be amusing. Loved another old reply asking whether electric heat would run up someone's electric bill!!!

Yes! Knowing and showing how much things have changed over time is both informative and can be amusing.

Plus it helps us understand how to better explain to the more confused among us (sometimes ourselves).
