i have never built a home or lived in one that was just built. I wonder what things we have to think about when looking at new homes v previously lived in homes. In terms of money output at the beginning, what are we going to be faced with?

Blinds for windows?
Paint for all white walls?
Landscaping?
washer/dryer?

Thanks!

In the triangle, for the most part, with new construction homes you will have to provide:

refridgerator
washer and dryer
blinds
landscaping galore!
and it tends to be more tedious to set up the utilities because no one has lived at the address before
some homes have knobs on the cabinets, some do not, it depends on the price range
Any upgrading that is needed for lighting, etc (if you don't like the lighting that is there)
Paint (although most builders are going to put an off white/tan paint in the house)

In resale homes, they do not automatically come with the fridge, although you can ask for it in the contract, but you may have to provide that as well as:

washer and dryer (unless the seller specifically puts them in the contract)
Maybe blinds (if you cannot live with the seller's taste)
Paint (again, if you cannot live with the seller's taste!)

Although technically you may have less that you have to put in initially into a resale house, it does depend on the taste of the seller!
