Have you purchased any of the new bamboo linens (made from bamboo fibers) for you home?

Do you like them?

I've seen them advertised and described as super-soft. Are the towels as absorbant as cotton? How durable are they (will they withstand frequent trips though washer/dryer)?

I've noticed that the color selection is limited to mostly pale or muted shades. Does bamboo not take dye well? Do the colors fade?

I have not seen one but Bed Bath and Beyond sells this: A bit expensive, I'll ask the wife to get a set to see if they are that soft....

Bamboo fiber has officially entered the mainstream. Bed, Bath and Beyond now offers these sheets made of 100% bamboo fiber with a thread count of 230. Bamboo is one of the softest fabrics in the world — softer than cotton but with a drape like silk. It comes from a rapidly renewable resource that doesn't require pesticides to grow.

These sheets and pillow cases are made of 100% bamboo fiber from renewable plantation growth, a wood plant that has a tensile strength greater than steel, yet yields a yarn with a silk-like hand that is softer than cotton. This 250-thread count bedding incorporates bamboos durability, strength, and natural antibacterial properties to resist mildew growth, and it dries faster than cotton and synthetics to prevent odor accumulation, even in humid environments. The resilience of the bamboo fiber enables the fabric to retain its color through multiple washings, while its softness makes it suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Thanks, Sunrico and Cattknap!

I saw bamboo towels and sheets advertised and recalled reading something about the towels a few months back in Consumer Reports -- an older issue where towels were being compared for things like shrinkage and softness. Bamboo towels rated very high for softness. I had intended to buy a hand towel and a couple of wash cloths to test for myself, but forgot until I saw them featured recently again in a department store ad.

Default Things Made From Bamboo Fibre

The products made from bamboo fibre are Bamboo Towels, bathrobes, bedsheets and clothes like t-shirts etc.
some qualities in bamboo fabric that make it a particularly good choice for bamboo towels.it can easily absorb a lot of water. It is also incredibly soft and luxurious. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial.
The resulting product of bamboo towel takes dye well and can be made just about any color.

I did our master with all bamboo towels and I LOVE THEM! They are so soft and thick. And yes, super absorbent. So far they've made it through numerous washes without any issues or fading weirdness. I got mine at Smart Bargains (smartbargains.com), and they're a dark, rich chocolate brown (they had tonnes of great colors) so they do come in darker colors, expand your search on that... GAIAM sells them as well (gaiam.com).

I haven't fully converted to bamboo yet but I do have bamboo/cotton blend towels in the powder room. I think it's an 85/15 ratio. Anyhow, they are super soft and very, very absorbant. There is less 'pat' time with these hand towels than with all cotton bath towels.

I was advised NOT to use bleach products with bamboo because it will quickly deteriorate the fiber. Other than that, they are easy to care for.

Does anyone know where I can get bamboo towel in orange? I recently bought these awesome bamboo towels at Wholefoods. They were just the softest towels I have ever felt and the colors is definitely unique and vibrant, they had this orange and turquoise color ones that make such a good match. I think the brand is Pure Fiber. Unfortunately the towels are not always in stock at that store, does anyone know where I can find them?

I got the Ty Pennington bamboo blend towels at Sears. They are very fluffy and thick. Pretty absorbent, actually so thick they're almost hard to handle, but very nice.

I bought some bamboo sheets in Ivory. They are to die for! I've never felt anything so soft and they look so luxurious. They're the only sheets I use now. I had bought some 1500-thread-count sheets before I bought the bamboo sheets and I thought those were nice -- until I tried the bamboos. No comparison....
