To save money sometimes people do stupid things.....like trust Chinese quality.

"Thousands of U.S. homes tainted by Chinese drywall should be gutted, according to new guidelines released Friday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The guidelines say electrical wiring, outlets, circuit breakers, fire alarm systems, carbon monoxide alarms, fire sprinklers, gas pipes and drywall need to be removed."

Yea I read about that early today. This govt should take all this poison drywall out of these homes, put it on a big barge and ship it back to China. If they don't take it then just dump it on their shoreline. Some grants or very low interest loans should be established for these victims who must gut their homes but not before having to live in a hotel while the construction is going on.

Well, wait just a minute; why should my tax dollars pay to remediate a problem that I had nothing to do with? I do not see these exurban people falling over themselves to suggest that the government should give owners of older homes grants or low-interest loans to remove lead paint and asbestos. How is that any different?

Know who should pay? The Chinese. The homeowners. The homeowners' insurance companies. Know who should not pay? Me.

I certainly don't agree that the insurance companies should have to pay for the removal of this drywall. The chinese manufacturer's should pay, but it will never happen.

The unfortunate truth is that the home owners should be responsible. You can't blame the builders or suppliers; if I remember correctly, there was a shortage of drywall and these chinese companies were tapped to fill the void.

sometimes you just get screwed. that's life.

those houses were built following hurricanes. There was a severe shortage of building products, so the Chinese drywall filled the void. Who knew the voids would be filled with toxic gases? It's difficult to say who should pay for the restoration. I did hear that there are several suits and demands from the government for the Chinese manufacturer to pay.

Ther is so much in the way of toxic products that make it into our stores that originates in China. Is there any way that this is not intentional poisoning by the Chinese?

I suspect if they were not our banker that the Federal Trade Commission would have put a complete halt on the import of Chinese products.
