Does anyone know why they cost more?

I'm researching appliances and I'm interested in a Whirlpool refrigerator. I'm looking at two refrigerators which are almost the same, but one has contoured doors ($200 more) and the other one does not.

I know nothing about contoured vs. straight & I have come here seeking your help! Pros, cons, & your thoughts are welcome!

My thought is to go with the cheaper straight doors. I like to display the kids artwork, school papers, etc. and I am going with a Satina finish so I can still use magnets. I was thinking it might be hard to use magnets on a curved door? I know it seems silly but the magnet thing is pretty important aspect of my decision.

Many trends are just a marketing angle to increase the bottom line... just like when almond cost more than white

Built in smaller quantities = higher costs per unit = higher price.

Style = money. That and if the buyers are willing to pay more for it, then you'd sell it for more too, no?

Yes, fewer people will buy them so they have lower production quantities. Aside from the fact that straight and flat are easier to make (machines are made to do the simplest forms, and additional forms cost more in machine tools and/or time to make).

Of course there is a marketing aspect too. Just like Apple stuff costs much more than "black/white box" products.

I don't care if it's 60's 70's or 80's I still like my magnets. I have the little picture frame ones with the kids, grandkids, great grandkids and other family members. On the side of my fridge I have some really cute and small ones holding my favorite recipes. I like what I like.
