My husband is a cajun from Louisiana and he has never found good gumbo in Houston or nearby area. He makes his own. It's quite easy to make if you buy the roux. You can find recipes all over the internet. Good luck!

Roux is super easy to make. It just takes 20 mins or so over the stove of paying attention to it so that it browns but doesn't burn.

Yes it is easy if you want to do it yourself. You do have to stir it constantly though, not just watch it!

It's hard to find good gumbo in Houston like you will find in Louisiana.

Danton's is very good and Cajun Shack is pretty good.

This is true. I think it's worth the 20 mins though personally! Hard to beat homemade roux.

I've heard BBs cafe is great. Haven't tried it myself, but know several who have and love it.

BBs.

It's...wow. I usually have to add salt to restaurant gumbo because it's missing just the right flavor but BBs gumbo is perfect. They need more locations outside of the Beltway. Those 3 within 610 may as well be one considering how close they are to each other. The Montrose and Richmond ones may as well be next door neighbors even in traffic it's not that far
