I normally abbreviate it.

The River Oaks District (The R.O.D project):

Oliver McMillan | Projects - River Oaks

^^ Watch the video. Yes this project is alive and yes this project will be constructed- it's been approved just waiting on ground clearing and more financing, and ground breaking starts soon.

Here are some pictures of that one:

This project is to take Upscale shopping to a new level. Higher than the Galleria. Yes, approved and awaiting construction once they get their tenant list signed.
For better information, and better views of this because these pictures don't do any justice, watch the video in the link I provided earlier on in the post.

Enjoy

OMG! That's fabulous! This is going to rival the Streets of Buckhead in Atlanta!

I'm assuming a lot of the stores they've used in the animation film have actually already signed leases within the property...

I'd have the same concerns about this place as I would for BLVD place. I can't imagine that there's MORE stores and boutiques that aren't already either in the Galleria, Highland Village or Rice Village. Then again, Houston isn't exactly a fashion capital so I'm probably wrong...

No, a lot of those stores are just what the developers of River Oaks District want to have. BLVD Place is retaining a lot of the stores that left during it's reconstruction of the site. Also, with more people moving into Houston, and especially the Inner Loop, I believe Houston is able to support these developments. Especially if they start construction this year or the first half of next. But, River Oaks District is suppose to have a W Hotel and a Le Meridian Hotel. Should be nice once it's completed.

Couple of years. It starts midway next year, so it will take a few years to build.

Hahaha. It's pretty nonetheless.

Private. The Regent Square Project the city gave them an extra $15 million but that's about all the city has personally contributed to the projects.

Apparently private interests see a bright future for Houston

A metropolitan area adding 143,000 people a year is definitely worth investing in.
