How a man is able to flee the country after taking three lives behind the wheel is beyond me. This is an outrage.

It is unfortunate, however. I don't think this is a matter of enforcement as the law was enforced. As a side note, the three teens weren't wearing their seatbelts.

What enforcement? He should have never been released. There was enough evidence to effect an arrest on the spot.

A lot of people would be surprised how many times criminals get away due to poor police work.

Default Simple reasoning should have sufficed...

If someone is pulled over and tested positive for DWI, then they deserve to go to jail. But if someone was injured, or worse, then the drunk driver should have a mandatory 90 jail sentence at least... he/she can get credit for time done on their other punishment for whatever the collateral damage was. This guy would still be behind bars then.

And woe to those who deduced that the drunk driver was an illegal immigrant, or Mexican even though the Chronical famously left out any information on the perp. I'm talking about the Chronicle posters, not City-Data. I recall the incident and reading the comments.

Actually there is an info about the perp:
"Investigators said Sajan Timalshina left Houston Friday in an effort to return to his home country, Nepal. They believe he may be traveling through Qatar, and have notified U.S. Marshals."

Apparently he's got a facebook as well. Man I hope they catch him. You would think the DA or whoever would have had the presence of mind to consider this guy a flight risk due to his being a citizen of a country with no extradition treaty with the US.

They need to end the 'Sanctuary City' policy and treat the illegals the same way they treat the law abiding citizens rather than letting them skate by.

If police spent more time taking care of people like this, and less time hanging out at red lights looking for expired safety inspection stickers we'd all be better off.
