Just moved into a house rental 2 weeks ago, the electric sockets in master bedroom work when I plug anything in them except a television, they have blown 2 television sets already! Why would this be happening and should landlord replace tv's that are now junk? I have yet to purchase renters insurance.

Please help, is this dangerous? I have 2 children and 2 dogs and am now worried about fires.

I don't know much about electrical, but it certainly doesn't sound safe. Is your landlord aware? If he won't address it, can you get out of your lease?

Notify your LL in writing, send the letter by certified mail w/ return receipt requested. Keep a copy of the letter. Call him and ask for repairs and tell him you will be following up this request with a letter. Always keep a paper trail.
In the mean time, I would not plug any sensitive electronics to any of the plugs in the house. Also buy some renter's insurance.
