Funny thing, a few summers ago we were at the community pool and someone was having a big pool party that night. They had an "iceberg" delivered. It was almost as big as a truck and floated in the pool. As many as six people could climb on it at once.

September in Houston is still hot. Yes, you will still be able to swim & probably on into late September - early October. Its been 80 degrees in December before.

Definitely fine in September. I usually give it up after the first cold front blows through, maybe late October but I'm also one who stays chicken-skin if the temperature drops below 70 and really, really miss having a fireplace here :>p.
