Depends which way the wind is blowing. I drive home partly on N Braeswood and when the wind is blowing south, the windows get rolled up.

When I first moved to Houston I worked right next door to the Houston treatment plant right across the street. Like another poster said, odors were relatively rare. Usually the only time I ever smelled anything was when I was filling my car up with gas from the pumps that are right on the fence line about halfway between Beechnut and Braeswood and even then it was rare. But, depending on where you live on Holt, and depending on the wind, you might get a whiff every now and to remind you that you live near what we used to call the "crappy pond".

I used to live in Southdale on Jonathan Street, about a mile north of the sewage plant, and you could smell it a couple of nights a month, more often in the summer when the wind was from that direction. It was never unbearable or overwhelming, but it was there regularly in the background. But Houston nighttime air in the summer smells kind of bad no matter where you happen to be.

We live on the west side, down the road from a treatment facility. It's usually okay, but on certain warm, windy afternoons or evenings, yuck. Are trying to sell our home, and somebody stopped by for a 2nd visit today but asked if our neighborhood had a "sewage problem." Not good timing.

Wondering if it'll do any good to contact anyone?

I lived directly next to it for 3 years in a garage apartment (and had an AC unit that sucked in air from the outside, ran it through the machine, and blew it in the room), and about twice a month (seemed like it was every other Friday, but that might have been coincidence), I chose to not run the AC because of the smell. But overall, not as bad as you might expect :P

One block north of Beechnut and one block south of Braeswood you can't smell anything. Maybe the faintest whiff of effluent when the breeze is just right. Anything stronger than a 5mph wind and the scent is dissipated.
