My husband has a possible job transfer to South Houston near Hobby. We were told not to move into this area because it has alot of crime. We're looking for something similar to The Woodlands. Can anyone please recommend a neighborhood or community that is similar. He doesn't mind commuting as long as it's not over 35 miles. His commute will be very early in the morning around 6AM. Not sure how traffic is at that time. We will be renting and our budget is up to 2K a month. We don't have any children so schools are not that important right now but a safe neighborhhod is. Any advise will be appreciated.

Thanks

I live right by Hobby and while it is nothing like the Woodlands, it is a nice neighborhood.

There are high crime areas and low crime areas around Hobby, depends on where you go. Now if you want a newer pristine suburban area then I would look at Pearland just across the beltway. It is not far at all.

Yes, Pearland is good. Friendswood or League City would work as well.

I often commute at 6 am, and there is no bad traffic from Friendswood up 45 to Hobby. It starts slowing down right around the Hobby exits, at 6:15 or so. So he would have no problem driving even from League City within 35 minutes.

Thanks for responding. Are there any nice subdivisions in Pearland or Friendswood that you can recommend?

Thanks again

Yes Pearland, Friendswood, League City, or almost anywhere in Clear Lake. You will find similar neighborhoods to the Woodlands in each of those. Clear Lake will be older, but the school district is rated exemplary there.
