HWY 6 south of I-10 is where the energy corridor ends and the western suburbs haven't begun yet. It is the old route to Galveston. It isn't' so nice. They do have some chain restaurants and a mall (but I would recommend the Memorial City Mall further in).

I was told this is part of the Energy Corridor, which is supposed to be a high end area. Instead, it's lined up and down with monster height billboards, abandoned strip centers, and an empty overgrown lot here or there.

And don't say that's just what Hwy 6 looks like everywhere, because north of I-10 it looks much better and more cohesive, with nicer looking shopping centers and tall trees. And the southwest portion in Sugarland is more like a boulevard lined with trees, tree medians and upscale looking shopping centers.

With all the money supposedly in the E/C, why has there been no effort to make their part of Highway 6 presentable? Both to out-of-towners and residents? I think it's in city limits too, so no excuse about being an unincorporated area. Right now, that stretch is just a massive eyesore.
I could list much worse areas in Houston.

Me, too.

I nominate I-45 from downtown to the Beltway north.

That's just one.

The Energy Corridor ends at Fry Rd. I think the EC is pulling a SW Houston: selective claims of territories that belong to oneself.

Maybe technically, but the big buildings do not extend past HWY 6. Memorial just ends.

I always figured that Eldridge from I-10 to Westhiemer would be considered more of the E/C. It looks nicer too...

This always works. It does for me.

I might just have to go out there with the camera though, in spite of the fact I have no use whatsoever for the area(s) mentioned here.
