Just learned today from a friend of mine in the commercial real-estate business that a restaurant type movie theater will open in Missouri City, I believe is the Star Cinema Grill. It will be right in the shopping centre area of HW6 & Dulles, basically expanding some of the existing building where the Velocity Sports Performance facility used to be.

What would that mean for the community? Would it be good, would it be bad?
That area is quickly getting very busy and unattractive to be honest...

And brief mention here as well:

Actually it's a Star Cinema Grill, and it's literally on the Missouri City / Sugar Land border (Dulles Ave at Hwy 6. First Colony.)

Good & Thank God for this. I can now either go here or AMC 21 at First Colony as options.

I hate how crowded AMC 21 in Sugar Land gets on Saturday & Sunday Nights. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is great news, I hope they come. A much needed theater was needed here in this part, the population and developments in this area have been like wildfire. It's grown so fast and so much that its borderline ridiculous.

Just make sure the community supports it. We had one in Richmond (Hwy 90, near Oak Bend Hospital, Kroger's shopping center) that closed due to poor utilization by the community.

Actually I quit going to movie theaters all together now days. With a family of 4 and sometime the in-laws so 6, and with the tickets prices continuously going up is just RIDICULOUS the amount of money you have to spend for tickets, popcorns and drinks. Total rip-off. With my new house I built my own movie theater with all the technology I need and I don't need to put off with this anymore. Sorry for the rant but I decided to vote with my wallet on the movie theaters...so unless is reasonable priced I won't support it...

I think this location will do rather well. These places are not bargain-priced, but I would gladly pay a small premium for an 18+ environment with a bar over the teen scene at First Colony any day. There has been a sign in front of the shopping ceneter announcing this for about a week now, so I think it is a done deal.

It is interesting how there is so much building going on for residents around highway 6 in Missouri, but residents who live on the other side of Missouri City, who happened to be predominantly minority are being ignored.

It's all about business, period.
