I don't agree with the built in nav. We have had both a Garmin and a TomTom and you constantly have to update them and eventually have to get new ones. Hubby's truck just happened to have one and we love it! Again you may pay for it in the beginning but come trade in time you get your money back. Most consumers prefer them otherwise there would not be such a large market of new vehicles that come with them or the option for them. Will have to check out the new Quest. Though we love the function of our Odyssey and as far as minivans go it wins out hands down we are now having issues with ours.

The Sienna, Odyssey, and Quest all got a major redesign for 2011. All of them look great, and have lots of cool new features.

My Lexus has a similar concept called Safety Connect. Ive never used it, not even to get directions or places to go...but the way it was explained to me it seemed the same thing as OnStar. Yes, it's just another added value for your piece of mind.

Can you explain about the updating part? I don't have experience with the Nav system. Do you mean that when there is a new road, street, or hwy, the Navigation system will need to be updated? There are lots of new houses and streets being built in Houston. Does the Navigation system showes these new streets or I have to go update the system regularly?

From time to time the store bought ones have to be connected to your computer and I guess there is software or you go to the site for your TomTom or what have you and upload the most current info. My hubby did it for us but I know it works something like that. MInd you wether the nav is built in or store bought it may not always be accurate.

For Honda Nav you have to get a CD and put it into the slot behind the nave to update it with new streets. They issue one yearly and it costs $180 I think

True, but you have to update the systems in cars as well, and to me that's a hefty price to update it ($180 if chris_UT is right) after already paying $2,000 for it. For $180 I could just buy a new Garmin or Tom Tom (cheaper actually). And I like the portability of my Garmin. Like I said before, I have used it in other cars and on trips where I didn't have my car. And depending on the case, the updates for the Garmin and the like are free.
