Couldn't tell you, but that is the best picture of Galveston I have ever seen. I know you are about to move there but have you ever visited?

Yes I have a couple times. The last time was just a couple months ago... I was really impressed by how clean it seemed compared to the time before when I was there in the late 80's.

I have some pictures of my visit some place.. I should dig them up and share them.. Here are a few I found quickly.. I have others I have to look for.

It is the base of a sign that someone removed. Notice it is painted up to the crossbar, then bare wood after that. The top part was not painted because a sign once covered it. I don't know what the sign said...

I don't think so.. It could of been.. but it looks a lot like the ones found on the CAM link I have there, go look once the SUN rises, and see if you still think they are all signs.

When Day breaks look at this link..

Hmm, I was thinking it was for a sign, too - like one of the signs for East Beach or something... I honestly don't know because we never go to Stewart Beach since lots of visitors go there - we typically go to spots on the West End as that is where we always went when we lived there. Did you go to GALVESTON.COM: Official Website of Galveston Island, Texas Tourism & Marketing and post somewhere on the message boards there? Someone who is living there now might be able to tell you. We might be going back down there next weekend to see husband's family - if we go, I'll try to see it in person and let you know. :-)
