This is news. It will be interesting. I don't think Idylwood will be too happy.

Thanks for the link.

Yes, especially for those adjacent. A good grocery store is a nice addition. Walmart never adds to the value of an area. It's a huge box surrounded by a huge parking lot.

Heights, Montrose, now this. I don't want to hear anymore degrading statements and finger pointing towards "suburban NIMBYs". It's obvious who the biggest NIMBYs are here.

That said, I can't blame any of them for not wanting more big box clutter.

True, and that's the shame of it. Walmarts as far as the eye can see.

I have mixed feelings about it. I am no Wal-mart fan but I am hoping the competition forces some of the other area grocery stores like Kombat Kroger on Cullen and Kroghettos on Telephone to step up their game. It is an ugly spot right now, so I don't think it will be any uglier, but the traffic is already a nightmare there, this will make it damn near impossible.

It's about time there was somewhere inside the Loop I could find stuff that wasn't heavy-metal laced cheap crap from China. Nordic Ware made in Minnesota; Corelle made in New York; Glassware made in New York and Pennsylvania; and plastic lawn chairs made in Pennsylvania. Maybe one day Macy's will once again carry quality bakeware, glassware and dinnerware not made in a third world country...
