This is news?
There's ticket quotas in every PD in this country (even if they won't admit it)

Good.

League City = Accident city. Country style & city style driving do not mix. Never seen so many accidents in one small area before.

LCPD if you're reading this, concentrate on the FIVE-way intersection by the high school.

I think in most areas this is true, just note the number of squads out the last week of the month.

Didn't read this story but the one last week in the Galveston Daily news said they were looking at officers who had written less then 10 citations a month. They are saying it is a way to monitor an officers perfomance.

What exactly are officers doing if they can't write at least 10 citations in a month? Doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me considering I could probably write that many just on my way to work for people running red lights.

FWIW here is the law;

According to Section 720.002 of the state transportation code: “A political subdivision or an agency of this state may not require or suggest to a peace officer, a justice of the peace, or a judge of a county court, statutory county court, municipal court, or municipal court of record: (1) that the peace officer is required or expected to issue a predetermined or specified number of any type or combination of types of traffic citations within a specified period.”

Doesn't matter what is "reasonable" or if this is standard for a lot of cities, what matters is whether or not there is a violation of the law. I imagine the chief will receive a reprimand and it will all go away. DA's don't like investigating this kind of thing.

We have a wink-nod system for the DA's and the cops. I don't see the different branches of government working like they are supposed to if the police officers are rubber stamped by the D.A. even to the point of the D.A.s coaching "peace" officers on how to write reports in a way that there are no probable cause issues when there wouldn't be this "issue" if they would just do their job and realize that there are issues with the case and get over it. Instead of being impartial and serving justice, most prosecutors just want to build their resume. To top it all off the judges then again rubber stamp what the D.A. wants.
