Hi Guys,

My family will be transfering to Katy, TX. I am looking for a neighborhood that offers activities and groups for me/us to participate in. I am looking to meet new people and hopefully make new friends. My husband and I are in our mid 40's with a daughter 17 yr. and son 15yr. Any suggestions?

People who live in Katy will chime in but the best known master planned community is Cinco Ranch. It is very nice.

Because different neighborhoods are zoned to different schools, let us know if there is a particular high school you want your kids to attend. That will make it easier to narrow down neighborhood recommendations.

Also advice if you want to build a new place or not... Most of the new stuff is on the west side of 99 (Grand Parkway)

Cinco Ranch is the nicest, but also the most expensive area... There are many other neighborhoods right around it that are very nice....

Cinco Ranch is the largest subdivision by far and has tons of amenities and nice neighborhoods; however, it's not necessarily the most expensive neighborhood in Katy. You can find homes in Cinco Ranch for anywhere from $350k to over $1 million, depending on which neighborhood within Cinco you choose.

Davidrod8 is correct: There are currently 6 high schools in Katy (3 north of I-10 and 3 south of I-10), with a 7th high school due to open in 2013 (south of I-10).
