Anyone know or know how to go about finding out what the best elementary schools are in the greater Houston area? I know HAR has some data, but I'm looking for rankings.

Easy to use website. You can compare schools, find locations, etc. Very user friendly.

If you are specifically looking at HISD, then you can go to HISD Connect and find all the stats on all the schools in HISD. You click schools and then click find a school. Then type in the name of the school you are considering. Then at the bottom of the page is "school profile". Click that and you will have all the information you could possibly want, including test scores, attendance rates of students and teachers, class sizes, etc.

Have you determined where you are going to work?

In the Houston area, pretty much every school district has its good schools and bad schools.

Also, it is important to know where you are going to work. For example, if you are going to be working at the Ship Channel, you will probably not going to want to live in Tomball.

We're currently living in Scotland and are possibly moving back next year. I'm doing some research on neighborhoods/schools, etc. My husband is in oil so most likely he would be working downtown, but there are also offices in west Houston and Sugar Land.

Thanks for the info, y'all.

if/when you find out the office location, that's the best time to decide what school district to go to. Also, determining your budget for a house is a good idea

I think in general you'll find that Fort Bend, Katy and Cy-Fair are all excellent school districts.

I'm afraid the OP being from Europe will make him see these districts (any Texas ISD, really) as being far inferior.

You might want to look into private school, OP.
