Ok I gave some outdated info-- I was just over there and that store is gone. I agree with the eBay/Amazon suggestion.

I saw some light bulb store on the Katy Freeway almost in Downtown along the north side of the road. Can't remember the name. Somewhere in the Heights though. It's pretty noticeable on the freeway if you are looking around.

I have looked at the Web sites and done a search for G9 based CFLs and GU9 (as I have seen it listed both ways) on all stores recommended and so far no luck. A google search finds only Website with stores based in the UK and China. I'm just so surprised if that bulb is out there that I can't find any in the U.S. not to mention in Houston.

I've ordered a few odds & ends from China via eBay using PayPal. Never had a problem. You should give it a try and give it 2-3 weeks to arrive.

Check www harringtonlights com. I emailed the owner to confirm the style of a bulb before ordering and he answered promptly.

I spent several months trying to track down a GU24 ballast and bulb for a kitchen pendant light. Worst design I have ever seen for a light fixture, and I have cursed the previous owners who put these lights in many times over. Seagull lighting sells the ballast for $22 and the bulb for $8. The ballast actually supports the glass shade of the fixture. Previous owners must not have realized that the ballast and bulb separate so they threw the whole assembly out. Anyways, instead of spending $30 to get a light working again, I ordered 4 self-ballast bulbs from Harrington which are able to support the glass shade... for what I would have spent on 1 bulb + ballast (even including the shipping).

Shipping charge was reasonable, and didn't take too long to arrive. I had spent hours driving around asking at various lighting stores. Ordering off the internet was so much easier. Sorry for the rant, but I'm still pi$$ed about how much time I wasted looking for the bulb I needed.
