The highest concentration is going to be in the area known as the Energy Corridor. It's basically on the west side of Houston, along I-10 between Beltway 8 and Hwy. 6.

Largest Employers in the Energy Corridor - Energy Corridor District

Quite a few are also in the galleria or downtown.

The highest concentrations will be alongside I-10 west of Beltway 8, with a few located in either the galleria area or downtown.

The Woodlands is also becoming a hotspot for employers in the oil & gas sector, with ExxonMobil building a huge office campus there and Anadarko being located there as well.

Shell has multiple locations all through Houston. Many contractor companies are off 610 near the city of Bellaire as well as around Sugarland.

if you live in Houston, you will be close to them

if you don't already have a job though hopefully your wife is pulling in some good cash

I agree with others to some extent, but there's more to the story. As an engineer, your opportunities will extend WAY beyond those large, vertically integrated oil companies in the corridor. Small cap, mid cap and private E&P companies exist all over the city. Some are downtown, some are in the Woodlands, Sugar Land, the Galleria area, all over the place. What you need is a listing of all E&P companies in and around Houston. Further, get a list of the private equity funds that invest in E&P companies as their portfolio of equity investments include the private E&P companies.

Downtown, Uptown, Energy Corridor, The Woodlands, Westpark.

Don't know about Greenway Plaza or Greenspoint.
