We will be driving thru Houston on the way to Austin in February. What should we "not miss" to do the day driving over or the day driving back? Thanks!

If you've only got time for one thing I'd stop by the space center. Lots of other great places, but nothing quite as unique.

What kind of things do you enjoy doing/seeing when you visit a city?

Visit the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham! Just outside of Houston on the way to Austin.

Tour Information - Brenham, Texas

I've always wanted to do this but never seem to have time to spare when going between Houston and Austin...

The St. Arnolds brewery tour is a must see and the brewery is located on I-10. (As long as you have a DD , of course)

I noticed that you said "we" but didn't specify if you're talking about your family or a group of friends you will be riding with. If family I would say Discovery Green. If friends I say Washington Avenue or Rice Village.

There are many good massage parlors I would consider a must see.

On South Main near Buffalo speedway in a strip center there is an adult dvd store/smoke shop right nextdoor to a church. Can't see that just anywhere you know?

I would add to what a couple posters mentioned and maybe say that you should stop by downtown and walk around Discovery Green. Then drive west and get Westheimer to the west. You'll be driving through the areas of Montrose, River Oaks, Upper Kirby, and Galleria. You'll be able to take in as much of Houston as you possibly can in a short drive. Pick a place off Westheimer to get lunch/dinner and then get 610 to I-10 or 290 to Austin.

If you have time, visit the Galleria, it's one of Houston's most popular destinations for out-of-towners.

There are no "not to miss" things to do in Houston. If you're heading to Austin, the time ought to be spent around there. There's no point wasting time in Houston.
