I'm currently moving from the DC area to Houston. I'd like to live somewhere which is in walking distance to nightlife, bars and restaurants preferably with a low crime rate. As well I'm looking for an area with a high number of young professionals (22 - 35).

Here's some of the neighborhoods people have suggested but I wanted to learn more about them. I've read some stuff online but would like additional input.

Heights, Neartown/Montrose, Midtown, Greenway Plaza, Galleria, Kirby

What would you like to know? The areas you mentioned fit your brief description, but low crime rate is a different topic. There are crime maps on the web that will hopefully give you and idea of what is going on within that particular area.
