Ok...one month ago i got a speeding ticket going 10 Mph over the speed limit (55 MPH). This is my first time getting a ticket. OK so they told me to do Defensive driving to take the ticket of my record and just pay the court fee (110.10) so i send a money order by MAIL and with all the information needed to get approval to start defensive driving course. My thing is now that i send the mail with information and FEE to the Houston dep. court, do i need to show up to court date? P.S i still haven't got any mail from them that i got accepted to take defensive driving.

I don't think you have to go but if uncertain, probably in your best interest to call and ask. Should be a number to call on the ticket itself.

If the ticket was issued in the city of Houston, here's a link for more info:
Online Services Information

Harris County is much more advanced, IT-wise, and you can do more online there -- pay for tickets/court costs, apply for defensive driving, check the status of your case, etc. So, in case your ticket was issued in Harris County, here's the link:
Harris County Justice of the Peace Courts

If you got permission to take defensive driving and complete the course and pay everything and send it all in on time you do not need to show up in court. I know I also had to get something notorized as well.

Call 311 if Harris County. I didn't go to court, but asked for defensive driving. I think there was an error in sending out information for what to do now. I called and they are resending.
