I know this is a shot in the dark, but anyway-

our family would really like an international position. The headhunters my husband has talked to in Asia say that it is better to look for a job in the US that would then send him abroad. This is unlikely in his current job and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of companies in Houston that are open to this possibility. He is a Finance Exec at an Oil and Gas company.

I read somewhere where Aramco is having a job fair this month; most of the positions are for overseas assignments.

I think the OP is asking for expat type of position where Aramco is "residential" assignments. Big difference..

To the OP, being in O&G is the right place for expat/international assignments and the best way to get one is to be very very competitive. If you are already in O&G and can't find one, then that say a lot. Either in the wrong field or not competitive enough. Finance jobs are very rare to be expat material and usually takes more than that. I speak from personal experience from being an expat for almost 20 years. I just recently switched to US payroll since I am done with the expat work and assignments. I like being home with my kids and I really like Texas.
