I just found out my beloved boxer of 12 years is dying. I would like to have euthanized at home. Does anyone know of someone that performs this service in the Houston area?

Don't have an answer for you - just wanted to express my sympathy. Went through it 2 years ago.

Have you called various vet clinics? Some do provide house-calls

Sorry about your pet. My neighbor had the same problem. Her vet came to her house. I was there, too.

So sorry about your situation. It's never easy and always hard to put down your friend even though it's best for him/her. I hope you can find someone to come to your house and do this.

I'm so very sorry. I know some vets will perform this service for you. You didnt say what area you're in -- that info might help someone here refer you to a vet.

Have you asked your vet? Many will do this if you're close by, but it's not something that they advertise. Both of mine have in Sugar Land. It makes the process a lot easier, for you and your pet. Sorry for your loss.

First, I am so very sorry. I was in your shoes three years ago, this April 2nd. It was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through.

I had an eight year old Golden with Lymphoma. She was very large for her breed and weighed in excess of 110lbs. I weigh just slightly more. She went downhill very quickly overnight, and by the next morning she couldn't walk. She collapsed outside and would growl every time I came near her.

I called my vet and he came to my house with a tech. Up until that point I had no idea what to do either, because I knew I would never be able to get her there on my own. I had several people tell me to contact rural vets, because they're more likely to make house calls. I had been planning on searching for vets in Magnolia and Waller, but I never had to do it.

I would take the suggestion of others though, and contact your own vet first. If you have a large breed, I can't imagine that they wouldn't sympathize with your situation.

Also, just in case you need it, we had a company come out within the hour of her euthanasia and they took her away and cremated her. It was extremely important that she be handled with dignity and this company (they're in Conroe) came highly recommended. I would be more than happy to give you their information if you'd like it.

Best of luck to you. I'll be thinking about you.

My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I have been through this more times than I like to remember. Ask your vet and if not, I'm sure he can recommend another Vet would does perform this service. I have actually never had a vet, who didn't.
